Sarah Sventek

Position At LIFE : Executive Vice President

Place of Birth : MN

School/Degree : Santa Monica College; University of Wisconsin; Degrees in child development and concentration in human development

As the executive vice president Sarah has been an integral part of L.I.F.E’s growth since its commencement, and an invaluable component to its success. Starting out as a client at the camp more than eleven years ago, she gained an intimate understanding of what Eric Viskovicz’s life changing philosophy was all about. She had tried absolutely every diet, meal plan and drug known to man to try to lose weight. Eric’s L.I.F.E. program was the only plan that focused on the third key to sustaining successful weight loss, the Mind. Eric taught her how to master her mind for long-term weight loss success, and at that moment, she knew she had to help others to do the same thing. Understanding the challenges, obstacles, and struggles and what it takes to overcome them has been a key element in enabling Sarah to better serve clients. Since then her contributions have been critical components to the expansion of the program.
In her current role as Executive Vice President she is vital to the operations of the company. Throughout the years, she has been the lead Reservations Coordinator, encouraging countless people to trust in to the LIFE Program. Early on at the company, she developed the meal plan and nutritional aspects of the program – at one point even cooking the guest’s meals. She also has worked with guests as a personal trainer and weight management specialist. Her specialty has been working with women and children in the following areas: fat reduction; lifestyle change for fitness and nutrition; body sculpting; childhood obesity and fitness; heavily obese women; and prenatal and postpartum exercise.

Joel Lyftogt

Position At LIFE : Vice President

Place of Birth : AZ

School/Degree : University of Southern California; Bachelor’s degree in Cinema-Television

As Vice President of L.I.F.E Joel brings to the company his valuable business expertise to help with the companies growth. He considers himself to be creative, hardworking, fun-loving and dedicated to the community here at L.I.F.E. He believes that hard work is a measure of what you do every day, not just some days. His motivation for what he does here comes from watching his mother struggle through a severe ailment. She regained her health by changing her lifestyle to include proper nutrition and exercise. From this experience, Joel developed a passion for health and fitness and his motto became to live fully and teach others about living a healthy lifestyle.
His decision to stay and grow with the company was further cemented when he observed Eric Viskovicz maintaining contact with former clients, helping them push through to meet their goals and making sure they continued their success individually. This genuine sincerity and desire in wanting to make people’s lives struck a cord with Joel in his final decision to work for L.I.F.E. Joel would love to help grow this company from what some refer to as a live-in-fat camp into a community of people seeking the change they want to see in their mind and bodies. With thousands of fad diets and TV infomercial scams, the opportunity to create a real product that is both effective and exciting has been the engine fueling L.I.F.E. With the obesity epidemic taking the nation by a storm, he feels that we need to take Eric’s message to a broader audience. Among others, his initiatives include making school cafeterias a healthier place for kids, and making health and fitness knowledge accessible to everyone.

Nicola Gibson

Position At LIFE : Program Director

Place of Birth : Cornwall,England

School/Degree : Saltash College; Associate degrees in business, finance, and interior design.

Nicola’s story is true and dear to the very core of what L.I.F.E is all about. Growing up she was an energetic adolescent, as she led an active lifestyle engaging in sports was the norm. However, as her career quickly shifted and her profession changed so did her level of activity, dropping to an all time low. Her weight rapidly got out of control and she saw herself tipping the scale at an excess weight of 70 lbs. After several attempts to loose weight failed, feeling hopeless and distraught she came to the weight loss camp in hopes of regaining her former self. L.I.F.E would prove to be the fountain of hope she was searching for. The camp was a great fitness network, challenging, yet rewarding. It was new and exciting, and the variety of boot camps kept her interest, but most importantly it worked! She saw her weight drop from size 18 to size 6, and has managed to keep the weight off for 9 years. On account of her battle with her weight Nicola has an innermost understanding of the issues regarding weight loss and weight gain- the struggles, frustrations, plateaus, and results, and most importantly, maintaining a lifestyle that caters the new you.
By working closely with the president, Eric Viskovicz, for the past nine years, she has learned the philosophy and vision of the company as it has come to fruition. Losing the weight nourished her newly found confidence leading her to seek a career path as a certified trainer, and in turn she has been able to help others through her profound understanding of their struggle. She started with L.I.F.E. as a boot camp instructor, and now holds the position of Managing Director overseeing the Marina Del Rey facility. She looks forward to being a part of the continued growth of the company.

Schuyler Yancey

Position At LIFE : Trainer

Place of Birth : Atlanta Georgia

School/Degree : Marymount Manhattan College; BFA Acting and communication.

Growing up Schuyler was quite the athlete, participating in just about every sport available in the athletics program at his school including soccer, tennis, track, and basketball. As an adolescent he was poised to become a professional soccer player but opted out for a career path in acting instead. Stumbling onto LIFE allowed him to regain his passion for the physical aspect of the human body and he ended up loving the program and being a trainer. In particular he enjoys the dichotomous relationship between acting and being a coach, because the focus is not on himself but on his clients and helping them achieve their goals. Schuyler notes that what differentiates LIFE from other weight loss facilities is the psychological approach that they take in terms of getting to the root of the issue, which is often the reason as to why clients gained weight in the first place. Rather than just treating the symptom Schuyler begins to establish a connection and relationship with his clients in order to identify the problem and hone in on a solution and a plan of action.
Schuyler comprehends the importance of truly understanding that every client has distinct personalities and motivations, thus this allows him to design a different personalized approach for their weight loss goals. He has mastered the art of navigating from one client to the next and is able to quickly refine his technique and style appropriately. The most gratifying part of his job he states is the reaction clients get when they reach their goals. He is very artful in getting the most out of his clients and pulling out their inner strength. The most important part of keeping his clients motivated is not allowing them to stop or foster the mentality that they can’t achieve. He is a firm believer that there is a point where they need to stop listening to the voice inside their heads and start listening to him, thus forcing them to believe that they are capable of a lot more than they think they are. Clients are the biggest reasons he comes to work every day; in fact he states there really is no other reason but them.

He also believes that his parents have been the biggest contributors to his yearning to help others. He started his personal training career in the California Health and Fitness facility and decided to continue his career here at LIFE.

He believes that there is nothing more satisfactory than when a client sees the results they were seeking. Sye admits that he has a natural ability to work with people in helping them find that inner strength and fire that many don’t believe that they have. He is a firm believer that many of LIFE’s clients need to readjust their perspective on their lifestyle, and that everybody and anybody has the ability to tap into that inner strength, they just need that extra push and mental aspect to take themselves to the next level. In accordance to his experience the best way to do this is to gain an intimate understanding of his clients needs and motivations, communication is key.

Jennifer Katz

Position At LIFE : Nutritionist

Place of Birth : Los Angeles, CA

School/Degree : BS Psychology and Integrative Biology, University of California, Berkley; Post Bachelor Clinical Nursing New York University.

Jennifer studied at Berkley to be a nurse and she watched as many patients came to the hospital because of the poor nutritional habits they had developed in their lives. She also saw many patients leave the hospital without getting the necessary tools needed to be successful in the life. She wanted to follow a career path that would enable her to help people with their nutritional profile before they entered into a hospital because of their eating habits or poor nutrition.
Jennifer believes that it takes an entire team to get someone healthy. She relates the ancient African proverb that it takes a village to raise a child and that taking that same philosophy to health, she thinks it also takes a village or a team to get someone who has taken the wrong path in their life with regards to fitness and nutrition to get back on the right path.
She understands the importance that Nutrition plays in successful weight loss but says that is only one component. She believes that the team that has been assembled by L.I.F.E. is a great to help others get their entire body healthy again and she is thrilled to be part of the team. She says the L.I.F.E. approach for building the foundation to help people make dramatic changes in their life is something anyone can accomplish and that her job is to help clients make their journey at L.I.F.E. a success.
Jennifer enjoys dance, running, yoga, cooking, crossword puzzles, reading short stories, hiking, biking, reading, hip hop and taking fitness classes. Leo Flowers is a great asset to the team at L.I.F.E. He came to L.I.F.E. with several years of Life Coaching experience. He believes that people need a more holistic comprehensive approach to solving problems in their life and with hard work and effort; there is nothing that is impossible.
Leo played college football on a scholarship. He uses the skills he learned in football to help clients. He knows that those skills will also help clients set and reach their goals. He believes in one step at a time and understands that the steps are in place for a reason. He knows that by helping clients take each step they will be able to achieve their weight loss goals and any other goals they have in their life. He wants to help L.I.F.E. clients move to the next stage in their life and he believes that by helping clients communicate better with themselves and with others than all their dreams and goals can be realized.
Many clients come to L.I.F.E. having slacked off in some aspect of their life that caused them to gain weight. He believes that if someone slacks off in one area that most likely they are slacking off in other areas. His job is to help clients create an action plan and to carry though on that plan. He wants to help others focus on where they are right now and where they want to be in the future.
Leo says that before every season of football the team had summer camps and intensive football boot camps. He believes this fostered camaraderie and was “all football all the time.” He chose L.I.F.E. because it is the same; clients are in a boot camp for fitness. It is “all fitness and all good nutrition all the time.” He knows from experience that many need this type of boot camp to jumpstart them on the right path. He knows this will help clients develop new habits and a new way of thinking.
Leo is a natural athlete and in addition to playing football his entire life, he also played racquetball and basketball. Leo loves cooking and he especially enjoys cooking Italian foods from scratch. Josh Haskel

Joshua’s passion for cooking began within his household. He felt as though cooking became his stress reliever, an excuse to cook a delicious healthy meal and simultaneously get away from the world. When he began his culinary career, a nutrition class was part of the mandatory curriculum. Suddenly, the combination of nutriment and food became his primary interest. LIFE gives him the opportunity to blend two of his most beloved interests and to teach the clients what a wholesome meal is all about.
Joshua’s take on the American diet is that it is a distorted version of what real food and a balanced meal is all about. He makes it a priority to give people direction towards a better beneficial and sustaining diet. He wants others to recognize and understand that food can be delectable without it being tainted by preservatives and refined sugars. He has a mastery over what he calls real food; nutritional food that tastes great. Although many of the entrees and meals they serve may seem complex, Josh assures his clients that they are simple, familiar dishes that anybody can make at home. However, these same dishes are infused with that healthy balance of nutrients that LIFE chefs specialize in.

He wants clients to know that he is here for them and always available to help them in anyway he can. Jeff says the best way that people can learn to eat healthy is to visually look at what you are going to eat and the portion size of that meal and think to yourself, “Is this good for me and is this good for my body.” He advocates that when someone eats a meal, they should always think about their health and their future.
